Penske Logistics Given Fourth Ford World Excellence Award
Penske Logistics, for the fourth time in company history, was recognized byFord Motor Company with a World Excellence Award for outstanding performance as its Lead Logistics Provider (LLP). The company was honored for its automotive logistics and supply chain solutions.
Penske Logistics provides a wide range of supply chain services to Ford Motor Company including serving as its North American lead logistics provider for its assembly, powertrain and stamping operations.
In South America, Penske supports Ford by operating parts distribution centers and through the delivery of parts to Ford dealerships in Brazil. Penske manages expedited transportation services for service parts across Europe.
“I am proud of our associates as their superior performance delivered solid results for our customer and earned this prestigious award,” said Penske Logistics president Marc Althen. “We sincerely appreciate this recognition from Ford as well as their collaboration around the world.”
Fifty-one awards were presented this year. Gold and silver awards were presented to supplier manufacturing sites that demonstrated superior quality, delivery and cost performance in 2013.
Penske Logistics received a silver award meaning the company’s performance ranked in the top 15 percent of all qualifying suppliers.
“Congratulations to all of our suppliers, who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence as we together work to achieve mutual growth,” said Mark Fields, Ford chief operating officer. “Our suppliers are key to the success of our One Ford plan, including our commitment to accelerate our pace of progress and deliver even more of the great products and innovations that will create even more growth and define our company going forward.”
