Deadhead is used to describe the movement of a truck or trailer without any cargo or revenue-generating activity. Typically, this happens when a truck is traveling empty to its next location after delivering a load, whether that location is a home base or the next cargo pickup spot. Deadhead miles can impact operational efficiency and profitability. One solution for minimizing deadhead miles is to take advantage of backhaul opportunities.

Road construction and maintenance projects are the keys to maintaining healthy roadways. Yet, these work zones can provide challenges to drivers.

New speed limits, traffic patterns and rights of way, as well as worker and vehicle movement, can all impact work zone safety.
