What Is a Freight Forwarder?
November 18, 2021
A freight forwarder is someone who arranges the shipping of freight for customers while also handling the movement of freight between countries. Responsibilities can also include storing products, negotiating transportation rates and booking cargo space. Importantly, freight forwarders also have operating authority with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in interstate and foreign commerce, which means they can handle international shipments that move from country to country or across multiple countries.
